XRHealth has announced the launch of its AR Glasses solution, expanding its healthcare platform beyond virtual reality and introducing augmented reality into remote care. The company said the solution lets clinicians connect with patients in real time while patients remain engaged with their physical surroundings.

The AR Glasses are designed for use during telehealth sessions. Patients can wear the lightweight augmented reality glasses while a clinician joins the session remotely through the XRHealth platform. The clinician can communicate directly with the patient and guide them through activities while the patient continues to see and interact with their surroundings.

The approach differs from traditional video visits, in which clinicians and patients interact through a screen. XRHealth’s AR platform is designed to make remote care more contextual and interactive by allowing clinical support to take place. At the same time, patients move through exercises, tasks and other activities in their actual environment.

The company describes the approach as a model in which care can be delivered through the patient’s view and within their environment. It marks an expansion of XRHealth’s use of immersive technology from virtual reality into augmented reality.

XRHealth has built its platform around immersive technology for healthcare and therapeutic experiences. The company said introducing AR Glasses extends that approach into the physical world, allowing patients to stay connected to their surroundings during remote clinical sessions.

During an AR-enabled telehealth session, clinicians can connect with patients remotely while patients continue to see and interact with their surroundings. XRHealth said this creates possible applications in which understanding a patient’s movement, environment and real-world activity can form part of the care process.

Potential applications include rehabilitation, physical therapy, occupational therapy, behavioural health, remote patient support and guided exercises, along with other forms of clinician-led care. The technology is intended to complement XRHealth’s wider immersive healthcare platform and clinical services.

The company said the solution gives care teams another way to determine how and where a patient should receive care. Its use of augmented reality also provides a different approach from virtual reality, which can place patients inside digitally created therapeutic environments. AR instead allows digital healthcare interactions to take place within the patient’s own environment.

XRHealth said the launch reflects its wider view that healthcare should not be constrained by the physical walls of a clinic or by the limits of a video screen. The company sees augmented reality as a way of bringing digital healthcare into the context in which patients live and receive care.

The platform combines augmented reality, telehealth and real-time clinical interaction. XRHealth said this combination is intended to support a model in which clinicians can provide care to patients where they are, while remaining connected through the platform.

Eran Orr, chief executive of XRHealth, has described the company’s approach as an extension of remote healthcare in which clinicians can be present with patients in real time, guide them through care and understand events from the patient’s perspective. He also said the company’s view of healthcare increasingly includes spatial and interactive elements connected to the context in which patients live.

The AR Glasses solution forms part of XRHealth’s broader immersive healthcare platform and expands the company’s offering beyond virtual reality. It focuses on remote clinical interaction in situations where the patient’s physical environment and activities are relevant to care.

XRHealth is set to introduce the AR Glasses solution as part of its platform beginning in the fourth quarter of 2026.
